  4. Welcome to the wonderful world of Exile III: Ruined World! You now 
  5. have access to days, weeks, or even months of role-playing adventure!
  6. Exile III features an elegant system, deep interface, and over a hundred
  7. towns and dungeon levels!

  15. Should you experience trouble with Exile III: Ruined World crashing, or with
  16. odd behavior such as static in sounds or graphics, contact the author at 
  17. the address above. First, however, there are several ways you might be
  18. able to make the problem go away.
  19.  
  20. 1. If you are using background music, turn it off. If any other programs were
  21. running, quite them, quit Exile III, restart, and run Exile III.
  22. 2. Give Exile II more memory. From the Finder, click on Exile II and then hit
  23. Command-I. Increase the numbers in the lower right hand corner of the 
  24. window that comes up.
  25. 3. Play Exile III without extensions running. To do this, Restart your Mac, and
  26. hold the shift key down while it boots up.
  27. 4. If the Exile III Editor was running while Exile III was running, this can cause
  28. problems. Quite both programs, and run the game.

  35. 1. How do I attack someone?
  36.     Just move into them. Note that, in town, you have to enter combat mode
  37. first. Click on the sword button to do this.

  39. 2. How do I equip an item?
  40.     Type the number of the PC with the item twice to bring you to that PCs 
  41. item page. Click on the name of the item.

  43. 3. I can't figure out talking to people!
  44.     Select Talk Help from the Help menu.
  45.  
  46. 4. Sometimes I'm told my mage is too encumbered to cast spells, and
  47. sometimes I'm not. Why?
  48.      You can only cast mage spells when your encumbrance is 1 or less. 
  49. However, Defense skill counteracts this. If your encumbrance is 2 or 3 and
  50. your defense skill is high, you might occasionally get away with casting a spell.

  52. 5. I'm getting diseased all the time, and I don't know why!
  53.      Perhaps you should identify everything in your inventory. Something 
  54. might be harming you.
